Non-Executive Board Member Opportunity

Non-Executive Board Member Opportunity

Are you passionate about making a real positive difference to people’s lives and the communities in which they live?  If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Board.

Created for Tenants by Tenants, Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA) is a forward-thinking housing association.  We are the largest social housing provider in the Scottish Borders providing over 5,500 affordable homes and services to Tenants and communities across the Scottish Borders, have a dedicated team of 144 employees and an annual turnover of £24m.  We are committed to our social responsibility to enhance the lives of those living in our homes and to create great places to live. We have ambitious plans for the future and are looking for a Board member who is committed to helping us achieve this.

As a successful Board Member, you will provide excellence in governance, be an ambassador and use your strategic skills to make us an even more effective organisation. You will be involved in shaping SBHA’s business to ensure that we successfully manage the challenges and significant change that the future is set to bring.

We are seeking a new Board member to join our dedicated and experienced Board.  We are looking to attract people who are passionate about social housing and who share our vision and values. We would be particularly interested to hear from you if you have experience in Treasury Management.

We aim to ensure that our Board remains sufficiently reflective of the diverse communities we serve, and due to underrepresentation currently, would welcome applications from women and younger people. We welcome applications from people of all different backgrounds, regardless of protected characteristics or social background. Full induction and training will be provided.

  • Time commitment: Quarterly Board Meetings plus training (usually held in the evenings) and strategic planning events.
  • Meetings and location: Board meetings are generally held at our Head Office in, Selkirk (although currently being held virtually online due to Covid).
  • Remuneration: This is a voluntary non-paid position; expenses will be paid.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to develop their skills and experience and make a difference to people’s lives. Interested?

Please contact us at board@sbha.org.uk or call 01750 724444 for an informal discussion and application details with Julia Mulloy, Chief Executive.
